I have a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) PhD from the University of California, Berkeley and five Automotive Service Excellence certifications in brakes, steering and suspension, electrical, engine repair, and engine performance. I use a version of the scientific method adapted to automotive repair to diagnose and repair electronic and electrical problems on modern automobiles. I have 14 years of experience in both dealer and independent shops. I also founded<a href=\"https:\/\/www.automotivefreeclinic.org\/\"> The Automotive Free Clinic<\/a>, a non-profit repair shop that repaired vehicles at cost.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #497527;\"><strong>Service Cost<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nLabor rate for commercial contracts is half of contracting shop\u2019s labor rate plus a service manual fee of $21.59 per vehicle. If contracting shops have electronic service manuals available (Alldata, Prodemand, or Identifix), the service manual fee is waived. Parts are sold at cost or provided by contracting shop.<br \/>\nLabor rate for the general public is $140 per hour plus parts, which are not marked up.
